Biography
Coach Maurizio brings over 30 years of coaching experience across youth, men’s, and women’s soccer, combining deep technical knowledge with a relentless commitment to player development. As a Canada Soccer National B Licensed Coach, he applies top-level training standards to every session, ensuring players are challenged, pushed, and held to elite expectations.
At Toronto Thunderbirds FC, Maurizio is known for developing athletes who compete with intensity, discipline, and intelligence. His training environment is built on high standards—where effort is non-negotiable, accountability is expected, and performance is earned. He prepares players to succeed in real-game pressure situations through demanding sessions that focus on technical precision, physical presence, and tactical awareness.
Maurizio’s decades of experience allow him to identify potential quickly and elevate players to higher levels of competition. He has coached at every stage of the pathway, giving him a deep understanding of what it takes to progress from grassroots to competitive leagues and beyond.

PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Head Coach & Player Development Roles (1987–2025)
Maurizio has coached across Ontario’s most recognized youth, women’s, and men’s programs for nearly four decades. His experience includes long-term player development, designing technical curriculum, running elite-level sessions, and leading teams through provincial, national, and international competitions.
Maurizio is known for his ability to identify player needs quickly and providing effective, individualized solutions that help athletes discover their own growth pathways. He has extensive administrative experience, including league operations, equipment and facility management, personnel coordination, and performance oversight. He communicates seamlessly with players, parents, clubs, leagues, media, and both provincial and national governing bodies.
Beyond coaching, he has extensive experience in soccer administration and operations, including equipment management, infrastructure coordination, staff oversight, and performance monitoring. He has served as a CSL and OYSL League Administrator, played a leading role in launching the Soccer Centre Indoor League with Peter Sarantopoulos, and was a member of the Central Soccer League Board, overseeing discipline, media, marketing, and corporate sponsorship initiatives (Tre Stelle). He also served as an OYSL Director at Large and sat on the league’s Discipline Committee.
